Visiting Assistant Professor of Accounting
Jean Meyer, CPA, has been with the College of Business full-time since the fall of 2008. During that time she has taught classes in financial accounting, governmental accounting and advanced accounting. Dr. Meyer received her PhD in Human Resource Education with a minor in Accounting from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Prior to joining Loyola University of New Orleans, she taught various accounting classes at Xavier University of New Orleans, where she was voted “Best Faculty” by the business students in 2004.
Jean Meyer has her Masters in Business Administration from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Her research interest is accounting education, service learning and online education. She is an active member in the Louisiana Society of Certified Public Accountants and sits on various committees for the society.
Dr. Meyer has extensive corporate work experience in addition to her academic achievements. She worked in the Public Accounting arena, focusing on tax and audit before specializing in the health care industry. There she held positions such as Controller at a hospital where she was promoted to Regional Controller and was responsible for overseeing the accounting processes of ten hospitals as well as the budget process for the entire company. She has worked as Controller for a startup company building the accounting department and setting up procedures for centralized collections for fifteen outpatient heart catheterization labs. She later worked as the Chief Financial Officer of a local New Orleans hospital prior to returning to academia to complete her PhD.
