Business Alumni Board

President's Message
As president of the CBA Alumni Board, I have the wonderful opportunity
to interact with and meet so many outstanding Loyola alumni. It is
a great pleasure to share the enthusiasm and excitement about the
many recent successes of today's CBA.
Last October, the CBA welcomed alumni back to the pack for two very
special events. Homecoming 2002 was a tremendous success and included
a reception to honor the CBA's class of 1952. Golden Wolves including
Samuel A. Barbara, Joseph C. Fuselier, Tom H. Kloor, Peter J. Talluto,
and Marcelle Barker Wolfe joined with Dean J. Patrick O'Brien and
faculty to host the reception held in the CBA Atrium. The reception
also served as an opportunity to celebrate the CBA's newly invested
faculty. (See article on page 7.) It is obvious with these new distinguished
faculty members and by recognizing alumni from the past that the
CBA is committed to achieving the university vision of moving from
regional to national excellence.
The annual CBA Alumni Luncheon was held Friday, January 31, at the
Sheraton New Orleans Hotel. Award presentations included the 2002
CBA Alumnus of the Year to Roland Hymel, B'53, and the 2002 Young
Alumnus of the Year to David Moore, G'96. The luncheon was highlighted
by the remarks of George Shinn, majority owner/ managing general
partner of the New Orleans Hornets. Sponsors included American Mortgage
Resource and Acquisition Title; Entergy; Fringe Benefit Administrators;
Hibernia National Bank; Jefferson Furniture; Laporte, Sehrt, Romig,
and Hand; Northwest Mutual Financial Network; Regions Bank; and Whitney
Bank. On behalf of the entire board, I wish to thank all of our sponsors
and alumni who attended and continue to support the CBA. Your support
and generosity continues to make this annual event a great success.
The College of Business Alumni Board partnered with the Bourbon
Vieux for an evening of delicious food and fabulous spirits during
a recent wine tasting event. The event featured wines and champagnes
from various vineyards including Beaulieu and Napa. Each wine or
champagne was selected to complement a wide variety of culinary favorites
including blackened shrimp and vegetable wraps, andouille-stuffed
pork loin, and lemon crepes with raspberry coulis. The event included
a CBA update by Dean J. Patrick O'Brien, and a welcome from event
organizer and past president of the CBA Alumni Board, Ruth Katz,
B'82. The CBA Alumni Board is considering hosting another tasting
in the fall. Watch your mail for the next time you can join us for
another exceptional evening.
This fall we will again host the annual CBA Alumni Golf Tournament.
I encourage all of you to join us for an afternoon of great fun,
food, and fabulous prizes. Please watch your fall mail for more details.
For sponsorship opportunities, contact the Office of Alumni and Parent
Relations at (504) 861-5454 or (800) 798-ALUM.
I look forward to seeing you on the links and at other Loyola events!
