Loyola Business - Fall 2003

Enterpreneurship Initiative

Due to demand from students, faculty, and the business community, the CBA has developed a minor in entrepreneurship for its undergraduates. It includes the following required courses: Small and New Venture Development, New Venture Funding, Global Startups, and Business Plan Development.

The college is now working to build a full-fledged Entrepreneurship Program that will increase the course offerings and opportunities for all students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition to building new courses, the CBA hopes to enter its students in business plan competitions on the national and international levels. There they will compete with students from colleges around the country and the world for honor and cash.

The college is seeking professionals in all fields who deal with business owners—lawyers who work with patents or legal issues that startup companies face, accountants who help new firms set up their books and report financial dealings correctly, bankers who help these businesses set up lines of credit, etc. The CBA also needs individuals who have gone through the startup process to share their personal experiences, as well as coaches to help students as they develop business plans and prepare for competitions. If you are interested in assisting with this initiative, contact Dr. Brenda Joyner at bjoyner@ loyno. edu or call (504) 864-7978.
