Marketing Team Places Second in International Competition

The CBA marketing team placed second in the 2003 international marketing competition.Loyola's marketing team recently competed in an international case competition and walked away with second place, declaring Loyola's American Marketing Association team among the best in the world. This year's winning team included business majors Maria Barleta, Vanessa Chetty, Melisa Coto, Amanda Eckersley, Martha Oviedo, Chrissie Scelsi, Elizabeth Turner, and Roger Valladares. Caroline Fisher, Ph. D., Bank One/ Francis Doyle Distinguished Professor of Marketing, served as the faculty adviser.

This year, the team was asked to create a marketing plan for Pringles Potato Crisps, a brand marketed by Proctor & Gamble. Each plan was reviewed by a panel of professional judges and scored accordingly. Out of the 87 collegiate chapters entered in the competition, Loyola's team was among the eight finalists chosen to advance to the next round. Each finalist was asked to give a 30-minute presentation followed by a 15-minute question-and-answer period to the marketing executives from the salted snack division of Proctor & Gamble. The University of South Carolina won first place and Western Michigan University came in third.
