D., who served several years as director of the Small Business Development Center, was awarded the Star Performer Award from the National Association of Small Business Development Centers. A few months later in March, the CBA mourned his untimely death at age 69. The award recognized Schroeder's significant contributions and strong commitment to small business.

When presenting Schroeder with the award, Louisiana Small Business Development Center State Director Mary Lynn Wilkerson said, "Dr. Schroeder is a true asset to the Louisiana Small Business Development Center Network, Loyola University, and the city of New Orleans."

Schroeder made a significant economic impact in New Orleans by providing training to 400 citizens and aiding in the creation of 474 jobs.

Schroeder and Loyola hosted the annual meeting of the International Center for Entrepreneurship and Venture Development. Attendance included delegates from the United Kingdom, European countries, Mexico, Central and South American companies, and Canada.

Schroeder was instrumental in developing Café Reconcile, a full service café established in an abandoned furniture store building located in a blighted area of Central City, and Kid's Café, a joint project of the New Orleans Chapter of the Junior League, Second Harvesters Food Bank, and the LSF Foundation that provides on-the-job training for Central City youth.

In addition to directing the Loyola Small Business Development Center, Schroeder taught marketing, international business, and entrepreneurship in the CBA and was active in his church and community.
