1971

Cathey Rushing Granello is working as a realtor for Prudential Gary Green in Sugar Land and Houston, Texas.

1975

Randy Starck is the senior account representative with America’s Second Harvest, a national hunger relief organization. Randy works with food companies to access donations for food banks throughout the United States.

1978

Rafael "Buster" Ramirez was named president, director, and senior lending officer of the Commercial Bank of Volusia County and its holding company, The Commercial Bancorp, Inc., on May 15. The Commercial Bank is a community bank located in Ormond Beach, Florida. Rafael has been in banking for 25 years. He was also elected to the Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce, Stewart Marchman Center, and Halifax Fish Associates board of directors. In addition, Rafael has been a member of the Halifax Civic League and the Cardinal Estates Board of Directors.

1982

Cesar Daniel Rojas resides in Hannover, Germany. He recently returned from a two-week fact-finding tour in Morocco and has opened new markets in Scandinavia and Eastern Europe.

1984

Thomas J. Cortazzo (L’87) has recently become of counsel with the law firm of Burke & Mayer, P.L.C. He will continue his practice in commercial litigation, casualty, and insurance matters. Tom also recently received the Archbishop Shaw High School Alumnus of the Year Award in the law category. A computer project, which he leads, designed to put computers in needy New Orleans public schools and assist in developing literacy and computer skills, was recently named an "Exemplary Partnership" by the New Orleans Public Schools Partnerships in Education Program.

1986

Elizabeth Drewes Smith married her high school sweetheart while attending Loyola. She and her husband, John, will celebrate 20 years of marriage this year. They have three wonderful boys, Justin, Alex, and Logan, and two dachshunds, Duchess and Annie Belle. Elizabeth has been working for Advocacy Center for nine years as the center’s controller. Advocacy Center is a private nonprofit agency for the state of Louisiana. It provides advocacy and legal services for people with disabilities and also provides legal services for seniors in several parishes throughout the state. Elizabeth feels blessed to be able to contribute her time and talent in her career, church, and other activities.

1989

Carl Prince and his wife, Judith, are proud to announce their first addition to the family. Harrison Renfroe Prince was born on December 12, 2002. The family lives in Metairie, La.

1991

James C. Burgess is the director of Oil and Gas Marketing at Noble Energy Marketing, Inc., in Houston, Texas.

Shannen Coffin and his wife, Casey, welcomed into the world Caroline Jean Coffin, born April 28, 2003 in Reston, Va. Shannen is currently a deputy assistant city attorney general with the civil division of the United States Department of Justice.

Lisa Katherine Miller, after 10 years of working in Democratic politics, took a few years off to live and work in Melbourne, Australia. An associate director with an international PR firm, Lisa was recently promoted to director of the U.S. office and relocated back to Washington, D.C.

1994

Christopher J. Shea is the controller and director of finance for the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nev.

1995

Rochelle Strada Bullock and Seth Bullock announce the birth of their daughter, Merritt Bullock, on April 25, 2003, in Houston, Texas.

David Alan Johnston moved in October to the Nashville area with his wife, Julie. David has taken a job as vice president/relationship manager for AmSouth Bank. David is living in the town of Franklin, Tenn.

1996

Manuel Huitz has been working at Nova Company since 1995 developing accounting and information systems. Manuel has two children, Manuel Huitz, Jr., and Mia Huitz.

Maleta Kay Fischer recently completed her third year at USFilter. She oversees contract and purchase order renewals for the company’s clients in Louisiana and Mississippi. Last year, she was selected to be one of 50 business unit trainers for Oracle. Maleta is responsible for training the office in the South Central and South West business units. She recently was the recipient of the Commitment to Excellence award for her dedication and hard work for quarter four of year 2002.

Christine M. Mora (G’99) has formed The Mora Law Firm, L.L.C., in New Orleans, La. Her practice includes corporate law, taxation, real estate, estate planning, probate law, mergers and acquisitions, and securities law.

1997

Suzette-Li "Suly" Rodriguez (A’97) lives in Miami, Fla., where she works in the printing and publishing industry as an account manager. Suly works in a PR-press company on magazines such as Vogue, Glamour, Architectural Digest, Robb Report, and others.

1998

Jeff Behring was awarded his master of business administration degree by the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., in June 2003. He will be joining the private placement/private equity group at Northwestern Investment Management in Milwaukee, Wis. Jeff was awarded the chartered financial analyst (CFA) designation by the Association for Investment Management & Research (AIMR) in September 2001.

Kristi Mincher and Paul Tafalla were married on November 29, 2002, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Dallas, Texas. The couple, which resides in New Orleans, met at Loyola. Both work for BISYS Education Services, formerly Dalton Publications. Kristi graduated from the LSU School of Law in May. Paul is the founder and owner of PEAK Sports Management and continues to work as a sports agent representing professional soccer, football, and Ultimate Fighting athletes.

Joshua Steinert, after completing his M.B.A. from the University of NewOrleans in 2001, began working in training management for Gateway Computers. He is now a training delivery manager for the Delta Territory of Ala., La., Miss., and Tenn. On June 16, 2003, Joshua married Amy Heddendorf of Savannah, Ga. The two are now living in Chattanooga, Tenn. and are planning on starting a family.

Scott Sweet has been working for Inter-Island Solar Supply in Honolulu, Hawaii, for the past two years. He is the marketing and sales manager as well as the webmaster for one of the largest solar wholesalers in the United States. The company also owns the solar hot water panel manufacturing company, SunEarth, Inc., whose hot water panels were installed at the White House complex. Scott is very proud that the administration feels there is a need for a more earth-friendly energy mix, being a model to the rest of the country as a solar power user.

2001

Joseph Jones recently accepted the position of voter services director for the Iowa Democratic Party. He is responsible for voter education, laying out goals for county parties, managing constituency outreach, county party trainings, and assisting in the administration of the Presidential Caucus. Prior to moving to Iowa, Joseph served as the Atlanta alumni chapter president.

2003

Jaime Skinner is a first-year law student at South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas.
