Loyola Business - Spring 2004

President's Message

As president of the Joseph A. Butt, S.J., College of Business Administration Alumni Board, I have the wonderful opportunity to interact with and meet so many outstanding Loyola alumni. It is a great pleasure to share the enthusiasm and excitement about the many recent successes of today’s CBA.

I would like to thank the following individuals who recently completed their terms of service on the CBA Alumni Board. They have been outstanding supporters of the CBA and their dedication throughout the years is greatly appreciated. Former board members include Frank Carbon, Jr., B’70; Floyd E. del Corral, B’51; Ronald J. Jung, B’62, L’64, G’69; Ruth Katz, B’82; Philip McCann, B’91, G’95; N. Gerard Montalbano, G’82; and Clifford B. Sutter, G’77. New members of the board who recently entered their first year of service include Wayne del Corral, G’91; Laura East, B’79; Joshua Garnier, B’00; Robert Johnston, B’91; Peter Maunoir, B’59; Lance Moran, B’92; Joseph Pappalardo, B’70, L’74; and Thomas Patin, G’95.

It has been a very memorable fall for the CBA. In October, members of the Class of 1953 joined Dean J. Patrick O’Brien, faculty, and staff members for a wine and cheese reception in the CBA Atrium, honoring the Golden Wolves. The Fourth Annual CBA Alumni Golf Tournament was held on Friday, November 7 at the newly renovated Audubon Park Golf Course. Participants enjoyed the afternoon on the links and the 19th Hole Party that followed, where there was fabulous food and prizes for all. On behalf of the entire board, I wish to thank our sponsors for the golf tournament which included the firm of LaPorte, Sehrt, Romig & Hand; Latter and Blum Property Management; Latter and Blum Realtors; Northwestern Mutual Financial Network; and Whitney National Bank.

On December 8, the CBA and the New Orleans Saints sponsored "A Breakfast with Paul Tagliabue." More than 300 alumni and guests were in attendance to listen to the NFL commissioner’s thoughts on the possibility of New Orleans hosting the Super Bowl in 2009 and the financial growth of the league over recent years. Tagliabue also proved his knowledge of Loyola’s football history, commenting on the undefeated 1926 team, which led the nation in scoring. He also noted two former Wolfpack players who played professionally on the gridiron during the game’s early days. The CBA was honored to welcome Paul Tagliabue to our city.

Thanks for your continued support of the CBA and I look forward to seeing you all at future Loyola events!

— Jeff Crouere, G’94
