Ashley is a New Orleans native, driven by passion and the idea that connecting people together can spur ideas that change the world. Through her current role as Human Resources at CivicSource or her years as a barista at Starbucks, it’s always been about people.
Ashley holds two undergraduate degrees from Loyola University New Orleans in music and public relations, proving that staying on-course isn’t always best. She’s spent time on Capitol Hill working for former Senator Tom Harkin who spearheaded groundbreaking legislation in education, labor, agriculture and more, including the American Disabilities Act.
In 2013, Ashley worked as an account manager for a food marketing agency during Super Bowl XLVII when it was held in New Orleans. In this position, she helped increase positive awareness and proactive use of Louisiana seafood in the aftermath of the BP Oil Spill, managing a multi-million-dollar media campaign, dozens of events, social media strategy and more.
More recently, Ashley returned to higher education to obtain a Master in Public Administration at LSU in Baton Rouge. Here she focused her research in policy and public opinion and her work in network analysis was presented to the Early Childhood division of the Louisiana Department of Education. Ashley also served as a graduate assistant at the LSU Olinde Career Center where she helped hundreds of students craft compelling resumes and cover letters, create strategic job searching techniques, learn to interview and network, and explore career paths.
Now serving as an HR department of one, Ashley serves more than 55 employees at her New Orleans office and is responsible for anything in the HR wheelhouse: from benefits and payroll to reviews and recruitment, Ashley is a Jack(ie) of all trades.
A believer in community involvement, Ashley serves in a number of roles: She’s an advisor to a new software development high school launching in August called Rooted School, and participated with the Young Leadership Council and her Loyola Young Alumni Board. Her next adventures are to use her role at CivicSource to join the conversation about alleviating blight from New Orleans communities and starting her own career consulting company.
Ashley loves all things culture, especially food, and you’ll find her at a new restaurant most weekend nights. She also loves live music, swimming, photography and keeping up her classical piano chops after work.
