Associate Director, Portfolio Program
Brent McLemore began serving as the Associate Director for the College of Business’s Portfolio Program in November of 2020. Before taking on this role, Brent was a member of Loyola’s Career Development Center and had most recently served as their Assistant Director for Experiential Learning. Prior to his arrival at Loyola, he oversaw career development at Carson-Newman University.
Brent has advised and coached students from a large swathe of majors, coordinated comprehensive programs and events, taught courses regarding major and career exploration and career and personal development, and engaged in employer development across various industries. An active member in the Southern Association of Colleges and Employers, he currently serves on leadership for the Experiential Education Knowledge Group. He also maintains membership and participation with the National Association of Colleges and Employers and the National Society for Experiential Education. Additionally, he is a certified practitioner of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Strong Interest Inventory and incorporates these instruments into his work with students.
Brent received both his B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in History, Social Work, and Counselor Education and his M.S. in Counselor Education with an emphasis in Student Affairs Administration from Mississippi State University. Prior to his work in career development, Brent served in various roles of oversight and leadership in student activities and residence life. With over a decade of professional experience in student development and higher education, he knows the most successful approach to any endeavor begins and ends with its focus on students.
