The Loyola MBA program is taking a new approach to teaching Supply-Chain Management. Rather than a traditional, theoretical approach to learning SCM methodologies, Loyola MBA students will have the opportunity to hear directly from an array of industry professionals, each providing the students with a different angle on the everyday challenges faced by procurement and supply-chain professionals today.
This summer’s course is predominantly focused on the healthcare supply chain. Guest lecturers will expose students to the complexity of managing goods in the healthcare arena, from the Original Equipment Manufacturer to the patient’s knee, and everything in between.
“An MBA program should contain a mix of theory and application," said Dr. Jerry Goolsby, Director of Graduate Programs. "At Loyola, the curriculum is combining world-class theory used in high performing organizations matched with real-world application of that theory. In the Supply Chain Management Class, our program is exposing our students to some of field’s top professionals, who approach a complex and threatened industrial setting every day. The students appreciate seeing where the ‘rubber meets the road.’”
Guest instructors in the course will include current and former executives from: Baxter Medical Products, Cardinal Health Systems, Ochsner Health System, Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System, Premier, Inc., Owens and Minor, B. Braun, Aesculap USA, The Palm Tree Group, and The Veterans Administration.
