A native of Winter Park, FL and a graduate of Tulane University, Carly Plotkin double-majored in Consumer Behavior/Marketing and Management at the A.B. Freeman School of Business, where she obtained her BSM and graduated with honors. An internship with the New Orleans Convention & Visitors Bureau in the spring of 2009 paved the road for Carly’s passion for tourism, hospitality and the rebirth & growth of New Orleans.
Following Tulane, Carly served as Marketing Manager at the historic Hotel Monteleone. In her tenure at the French Quarter’s largest hotel, she led marketing efforts for projects including the Hotel’s 125th Anniversary, The Carousel Bar & Lounge redesign and reopening, as well as extensive Hotel and restaurant renovations. Carly was awarded Manager of the Quarter and received the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International Adrian Award for Web Marketing.
In 2013, Carly accepted a position with The Howard Hughes Corporation to lead their local marketing and development efforts for the $82 million overhaul of the former Riverwalk Marketplace into the nation’s first downtown outlet center, The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk. Carly played an integral part in New Orleans’ retail renaissance, helping to represent and promote one of the city’s largest retail developments in and around the Greater New Orleans community. With the center boasting over 250,000 SF of GLA, Riverwalk became a driving force in bringing many first-to-market retailers to New Orleans, Louisiana and the Gulf South region, including Neiman Marcus Last Call Studio, Tommy Bahama Outlet, The PUMA Outlet Store, among others. In 2015, The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk, including Carly and her team, was awarded GOLD in the ICSC U.S. Design and Development Awards.
Carly’s experience in redevelopment and retail cultivated her passion for real estate, and in October 2015, Carly became a licensed Sales & Leasing Executive with a targeted focus on retail and restaurant representation. In less than a year in the industry, Carly has since been nominated for the International Council of Shopping Center’s Next Generation Committee Chair for the state of Louisiana, with hopes to further her role and activism in the real estate community and aid in the commercial growth in the city, state and region.
Beyond her office hours, Carly also lends a hand with current nonprofit efforts including supporting the next generation of professionals as an Executive Mentor to Loyola University New Orleans Business School students, as well as serving as a member of the Tulane University Alumni Committee. In her cultural efforts, Carly serves on the French Quarter Festival, Inc. Marketing Committee, as well as the Ochsner Cancer Institute’s Moonlight & Miracles Gala Committee, helping to fundraise and raise awareness for cancer research. Carly also recently accepted the nomination as a Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s “New Orleans’ Finest” honoree, helping to raise money for CFF research. Most recently, Carly was also accepted into the Anti-Defamation League’s 2016-2017 Glass Leadership Institute program, a nationally recognized leadership development program, designed specifically for a select group of young professionals as an up close and personal opportunity to expand their knowledge about the nation’s leading civil rights and human relations organization.
