The College of Business' Center for Entrepreneurship and Community Development continued its commitment to partnering with entrepreneurs and organizations in the New Orleans startup ecosystem by hosting the New Orleans Startup Weekend on October 15-17, 2015.
In all, 15 teams pitched their startups to a panel of judges including Center Director, Jon Atkinson, and local entrepreneurs and business executives. The teams of students, marketers, developers, and entrepreneurs then worked on strategies to effectively launch the most promising of these ideas, culminating in final pitches just two days later. The winning team was awarded a prize package that included code bootcamp scholarships, three months of work space, and development consultation for their startup idea.
The Center for Entrepreneurship also recently announced a new partnership with The Idea Village to continue the many events hosted by the organization, including the annual New Orleans Entrepreneur Week which will be hosted by Loyola for the first time in March, 2016.
As part of New Orleans Entrepreneur Week, teams of MBA students from Loyola, LSU, Tulane, UNO, and other regional and national universities will compete in the immersive IDEACorps Consulting Challenge, in which students will help founders of New Orleans-based startups to develop actionable business plans to advance their companies.
