Brittany D. Heims joined Loyola's College of Business in the fall of 2023 as the Career and Academic Advisor for the College of Business' Portfolio Career Development Program. In her capacity, she serves as the Academic Advisor for all first-year students in the College of Business and functions as the Career Coach for all undergraduate College of Business majors. Her primary focus is on instilling career-readiness skills, promoting academic best practices, and fostering connections to various academic and career opportunities. This ensures that students are well-prepared for successful entry into the workforce or for seamless transitions into graduate school post-graduation.

Originally from Central Louisiana, Brittany holds two Master's Degrees from Northwestern State University—one in English Literature with a concentration in Southern and Folk Literature, and another in Student Affairs in Higher Education. Although she is a newcomer to New Orleans, Brittany brings a wealth of knowledge about the higher education landscape in the Greater New Orleans area. Prior to joining Loyola University, Brittany contributed to the success of first-year, first-generation students at Xavier University of Louisiana. There, she served as Program Manager and CARE (Student Success) Coach for the university's QEP Program, CARE. Additionally, Brittany worked at the University of New Orleans where she served as a First-Year Academic Advisor for the College of Engineering and as an Instructor in the First-Year Experience program.

Driven by a passion for student engagement and retention, particularly within first-year and underserved student populations, Brittany has dedicated the past six years to higher education. Her varied roles include serving as an English faculty member at community colleges and taking on responsibilities such as Residence Life Coordinator, Retention and Advising Specialist, and First-Year Seminar instructor at four-year universities across Louisiana. Brittany is excited to contribute to Loyola's community, where she can continue her commitment to student development and growth.
