Beta Gamma Sigma named international "Premier Chapter"

International business honor society Beta Gamma Sigma recognized its Loyola chapter with the prestigious “Premier Chapter” designation earlier this month. Loyola's Beta Gamma Sigma has earned this award under the direction of faculty advisor Lee Mundell, mundell@loyno.edu.

“This is a significant achievement and indicates the high value placed on scholarship recognition at Loyola University New Orleans,” Beta Gamma Sigma President Robert Reid wrote in a letter to College of Business Dean William Locander. “We applaud the efforts from your Beta Gamma Sigma chapter advisors and administrators as well as your personal support of BGS.”

“We are pleased and grateful to receive such an esteemed honor,” said Locander. “Loyola is committed to enhancing the academic experience of its business students by interacting with organizations such as Beta Gamma Sigma. Our involvement with BGS not only recognizes academic achievement, but also fosters personal and professional growth that can have a lasting effect for years to come.”

Being named a “Premier Chapter” also qualifies Loyola to participate in and receive $500 in the BGS matching funds scholarship program for next year. They are also encouraged to apply as an “Outstanding Chapter” for 2011, which, if awarded, qualifies for additional academic scholarships.
