Brian Heese, a 1986 accounting graduate, is the director of Debt Capital Markets for Merrill Lynch, one of the world’s leading financial management and advisory companies. He raises money for large companies by identifying debt financing opportunities in the market and then executing the bond and associated derivative transaction.
Heese has been in NYC for 10 years. He moved there after being offered a job with Merrill Lynch in 1996, and he continues to enjoy the diversity and opportunities that the city offers. “I continue to live in NYC because it provides the best growth opportunity for me and my family,” says Heese. “Several years ago, my wife and I contemplated leaving NYC, but after evaluating five other cities, we decided that none offered a comparable mix of opportunity, schools, and potential rewards.”
It is Loyola’s values that continue to aid Heese in his career and his life. “The ethical value system that Loyola instilled has helped me immensely,” he says. “Clients, colleagues, and friends want someone they can trust and someone they can depend on. Loyola also taught me the value of giving back.”
