Professor of Management
Michelle K. Johnston, PhD, is the Chase Minority Entrepreneurship Professor of Management in the College of Business at Loyola University New Orleans, where she teaches leadership communication classes to MBA and undergraduate students.
Dr. Johnston has received several research and teaching awards in the field of communication. She was named one of Gambit’s 40 under 40 and has appeared on Ch. 6 News and The Business Report as a communication expert. She is an active presenter at international and national conventions, and has published various articles for research journals. Her recent research has found a positive link between a Team’s Listening Environment (TLE) and financial performance.
In addition, she has worked as a communication consultant and leadership coach with organizations such as Pfizer Pharmaceutical, Entergy, Imperial Trading Company, The Advocate, Young Presidents Organization, McGlinchey Stafford Law Firm, and Ochsner Health System.
Dr. Johnston recently developed the Communication Preference Profile, an inventory that identifies four habitual communication styles: People, Action, Content, and Technology. She uses this inventory to help individuals and teams improve their performance through better communication.
