Business Graduate Programs Information Sessions

What We Are Looking For in Successful Applicants
We are looking for applicants who are ready for the demands of graduate study in business and who understand the level of commitment it requires. This is not undergraduate work where completion was a major goal. In Graduate School, faculty want to see you can think strategically about the subject matter and you take deep interest in such.
Strong candidates show academic discipline, professional maturity, and the ability to stay focused when work becomes challenging. We want to see evidence that you follow through on goals and take responsibility for your progress.
Beyond academic preparation, we look for self-awareness and growth. Help us understand how you respond to challenge and what you have learned from your experiences thus far. Share moments that shaped your thinking or strengthened your skills. Our programs rely on discussion and collaboration, so we value students who contribute thoughtfully in group settings and who respect the perspectives of others. Whether in-person or online, graduate-level work is defined by learning and working with your classmates.
Most of all, successful applicants have direction. They understand why they are pursuing this degree and how it connects to their professional path. Clarity of purpose makes a strong application stand out.
How to Approach a Personal Statement
Your personal statement should give us a clear picture of who you are and where you are headed. Begin by explaining your current professional position and the goals you are working toward. Then show us how this graduate degree fits into that plan. We are less interested in broad promises about "changing your life" or "unlocking your future" and more interested in how you intend to use this degree in practical terms.
Be specific about the roles that interest you and the skills you want to develop. Describe the experiences that influenced your decision to pursue graduate study. This is your opportunity to show us how you think and what motivates you. A strong statement feels reflective, focused, and honest. It should sound like you. Also, please refrain from including statements that are overly complimentary of the success of our programs. Your Personal Statement is a reflection of YOU, not a way to score points with over-complimenting our programs.
Using AI in the Application Process
We want your application to reflect your own thinking and your own voice. Artificial intelligence tools should not be used to write your essays or generate your ideas. When a statement feels generic or overly polished, it often loses the authenticity we are trying to understand.
You may use tools to review grammar or improve clarity after you have written your draft. The substance of your application, however, should come directly from you. We are evaluating your judgment, your goals, and your readiness for graduate study. The best way for us to do that is by hearing from you in a genuine and personal way.
